Fremantle Truffle Festival is winter’s tastiest free event

Winter’s most delicious event is back, with the Fremantle Truffle Festival returning to Fremantle from 10 to 12 July 2026 for its biggest and most immersive celebration yet.
Best of all, entry to the festival is completely free, making it one of Perth’s best family-friendly winter events and an ideal excuse to spend a day exploring the port city’s vibrant food scene.
A City-Wide Celebration of WA Truffles

Building on the success of previous years, the 2026 festival expands well beyond the iconic Fremantle Markets, transforming Fremantle into a city-wide celebration of Western Australia’s prized black winter truffles.
Restaurants, bars and venues throughout Fremantle’s heritage heart will embrace all things truffle, with exclusive menus, limited-edition dishes, signature cocktails and curated dining experiences designed to showcase the versatility and flavour of locally grown truffles.

At the heart of the festivities is the Truffle House Marquee on Henderson Street, located adjacent to Fremantle Markets. Hosted by Great Southern Truffles, the marquee will feature truffle tastings, cooking demonstrations, artisan producers and premium truffle products from across Western Australia.
Visitors can browse and purchase a range of specialty items including truffle cheeses, truffle popcorn, truffle salami and other gourmet products, while aspiring growers can learn more about truffle cultivation through displays featuring truffle seedlings, specialised fertilisers and expert advice from industry professionals.
Food lovers can also enjoy truffle tasting stations prepared by emerging chefs from the Australian Culinary Foundation WA and the WA O’Brien Culinary Academy.

What Can You Eat at the Fremantle Truffle Festival?
We recently enjoyed a preview of several signature festival creations at the Fremantle Markets including the Truffle Infused Pork Ribs Bao from What The Bao, Lamb Gözleme with truffle, sumac and caramelised onion from Goz Bar Freo and a decadent Basque cheesecake finished with fresh truffle shavings from BASQ.
Dessert lovers should also keep an eye out for the truffle white chocolate mousse with raspberry and spun sugar from Sana Middle Eastern Street Food on Market Street.

Visitors can also look forward to truffle-inspired dumplings at Emily Taylor, market specials from Fremantle Markets traders and don’t miss the cleverly named “Mark Truffle-O” truffle fat-washed Old Fashioned from Anglesea.

Family-Friendly Fun and Truffle Dogs
Families and dog lovers are also in for a treat this year thanks to the introduction of the Truffle Dog Hunt demonstrations at the Old Courthouse Gardens. Taking place twice daily across the weekend, visitors can watch highly trained truffle dogs use their extraordinary sense of smell to uncover prized black truffles in fun and interactive live demonstrations.
Additional activities include games, “Guess the Weight” competitions, “Find the Truffle” challenges for younger visitors and plenty of market specials throughout Fremantle Markets.
What’s on around Freo during the Fremantle Truffle Festival
For those looking to indulge further, participating venues around Fremantle will host special experiences including the Opening Night Truffle Dinner & Talk at The Old Court House, a five course Truffle-Inspired Feed Me menu at The Loft, Little Creatures, a $24pp special Beef Cheek & Truffle Dumplings and glass of Pas Touche wine at Moon & Mary, plus many other exclusive dishes and drinks available during the festival weekend at local restaurants and bars.
Whether you’re a serious truffle enthusiast, a curious foodie or simply searching for a fun and affordable winter outing, the Fremantle Truffle Festival offers a little something for everyone.
The Fremantle Truffle Festival runs from Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July 2026 with free entry to festival activations and experiences across Fremantle.
