Enjoy the autumn colours at Raeburn Orchards

Every May (late Autumn in Perth) the persimmon trees at Raeburn Orchard in the Perth Hills turn into an orange, red, and yellow-hued wonderland. Located in Roleystone (just 30km from Perth), and aside from being a very instagrammable spot, this orchard is home to some of the highest quality fruit around.

Unfortunately, no picking is allowed, but you can purchase some of their persimmons, apples and pears from the shop on site. But that’s not all, enjoy a cuppa and cake at The Shed, or peruse the other gourmet goods they stock. A visit to Raeburn Orchard is definitely one of the most popular things to do in Perth if you’re looking for autumn colours. Tickets for an Orchard Walk costs $5 per adult and are free for kids under 12.

This family-run business on Rokeby Road in Subiaco provides an opportunity to do a ceramic painting session. Select your choice of pottery from their fantastic range of products then paint away to your hearts content. Paint, brushes and stencils are provided, and you’ll have 90 minutes to complete your masterpiece. The cost is only $8 plus your selected pottery piece (ranging from $10-$80) which includes the final glazing of your artwork. Ceramic painting sessions are available Wednesday through to Sunday. Picnic in the autumn leaves at Borello Park

This little gem of a park is located in the beautiful leafy suburb of Rolystone in the Perth Hills. With golden poplar trees and liquidambar trees that turn a deep shade of red in autumn, it’s a gorgeous spot for a picnic with the family. There’s also a little gazebo, a playground for the kids, BBQs, picnic tables and toilet facilities. Don’t miss the little running brook which we thought was the prettiest area of the park. It’s also fun for kids to splash, catch tadpoles, leaf races or just to picnic beside the stream.

Play a round at Matagarup Mini Golf

Perth’s newest family attraction Matagarup Mini Golf recently opened, and autumn is the perfect time to enjoy a game with the family. Centrally located in Burswood Park, this might just be the biggest and best mini golf in Perth. The 18 hole course has been masterfully designed and beautifully landscaped, with an array of natives, shady trees, refreshing waterways and family-friendly spaces. It also features a number of distinctive “WA” touches – The Pinnacles, Swan, Kangaroos, Surfboards (a nod to our coastal lifestyle), and an even a mini Matagarup Bridge. So if you’re looking for fun things to do in Perth this autumn, why not have a hit and giggle with friends, your family or even with your date!

Visit a farm for local seasonal produce

Just 30 minutes from the Perth CBD in the Swan Valley is Keller’s Farm – an unassuming and eclectic market farm. Visiting it is one of our favourite things to do in Perth year-round. Not only do they stock a huge range of fresh and local farm produce for purchase, but you can also get ‘up close and personal’ with some of their cute farm yard animals. (the kids will love it!)

Keller’s Farm sell delicious farm-made bread, focaccia, pastries, baked goods, granola, jams, olive oil, eggs and honey, as well as a great range of fresh fruit and vegetables. It’s the perfect spot to stop and pick up a few goodies, then enjoy a snack and coffee in the garden whilst soaking up the beautiful country atmosphere of the Swan Valley. And in the cooler months, they’ll even have a fire burning to keep you toasty! Being an active farm, the shop is only open on weekends from 8am to 4pm.
