Baillie Hill: Review of East Victoria Park’s new Precinct

East Victoria Park has a brand-new community hub, and after finally paying Baillie Hill a visit, we can safely say it’s one of the most exciting new projects to open in Perth in recent years. Designed as a place to eat, relax, connect and spend time together, Baillie Hill brings together great food, welcoming spaces and thoughtful design – all wrapped up in a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.
Whether you’re planning a relaxed date night, a long lunch with friends or a casual outing with the kids, this new dining and lifestyle precinct delivers on every front.
First Impressions of Baillie Hill

From the moment you arrive, Baillie Hill feels lively and inviting. The layout is spacious and easy to navigate, with multiple dining venues, open-air seating, landscaped gardens and plenty of room for kids to explore. There’s a real sense of buzz here, but without it feeling crowded or chaotic.
The precinct is built around the beautifully restored, heritage-listed Elizabeth Baillie House, once part of WA’s first specialist maternity hospital. It’s wonderful to see this historic site thoughtfully preserved and integrated into such a modern, welcoming space.
Dining Options at Baillie Hill
One of the biggest drawcards is the variety of dining experiences on offer – perfect for groups with different tastes. And with over 680 seats across the precinct, there’s plenty of space for everyone, even during busy periods.
The Berwick is an all-day bistro and bar, offering a relaxed yet polished setting for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. The interior is warm and welcoming, and we can already picture cosy winter nights here once the fireplace is crackling.

Milly’s Acre brings urban homestead vibes, with alfresco dining set amongst produce gardens and shady trees. Open from 11am until late, it’s a gorgeous spot for long lunches, afternoon drinks and casual dinners. Weekend breakfast is launching soon, and it’s already high on our must-try list.

Greensleeves Gelato is your go-to for artisan gelato and cool treats. The lemon meringue pie flavour was a standout for us – light, creamy and perfectly balanced.

Parco Pizza has a huge wood-fired oven pumping out pizza, available from both The Berwick and Milly’s Acre. Perfect for sharing, these pizzas are ideal for group dining or casual family meals.
What We Tried

With so many tempting options on offer, choosing what to order wasn’t easy – but everything we tried seriously impressed. The standout for us was the Stirling Ranges Steak Sando, loaded with onion jam, cheddar, horseradish cream, rocket and a generous side of chips. It’s honestly one of the best steak sandwiches we’ve had in a long time.
We also loved the Spiced Roasted Carrot Salad with almonds, hummus, cracked grain and black lime vinaigrette – fresh, vibrant and full of flavour – along with the Lamb Pide topped with san marzano passata, mozzarella, eggplant, mint, sumac labneh and pickled onions, which was perfect for sharing.

Family-Friendly Features at Baillie Hill

Baillie Hill is incredibly well designed for families. A huge timber nature playground (with shade sail coming soon) offers a safe and engaging space for kids to burn off energy, while Milly’s Barn is home to friendly geese and chickens. You can visit the Barn daily between 11am–6pm – a guaranteed hit for little animal lovers, or take them for a wander through the produce gardens to see where their food is coming from.
What’s Coming Soon to Baillie Hill
There’s even more to look forward to at Baillie Hill, including:
- Community Farmers’ Market – launching in March, held every Sunday from 7am–12pm with fresh local produce, artisan goods, live music, kids’ activities and great coffee.
- Beth’s Bakery – a café and bakery serving Loot coffee and fresh baked goods daily, opening in March inside the heritage rotunda building.
- Elizabeth Baillie Park – almost complete, featuring sprawling lawns, walking paths, a new playground, amphitheatre and BBQ facilities.
- Wellness Weekends – free morning yoga, pilates and meditation sessions in the park.
Our Verdict

As locals living nearby, Baillie Hill instantly feels like the kind of place you’ll keep coming back to. The spaces are generous, the atmosphere is vibrant without being overwhelming, and the food and drink options are diverse and high quality.
Whether you’re stopping in for coffee, meeting friends for lunch, planning a family outing or settling in for a relaxed evening with a spritz and shared plates, Baillie Hill ticks all the boxes. It’s an exciting new chapter for East Victoria Park – and one we’ll definitely be revisiting often.
