It’s part of Nambung National Park, the same region that’s home to the famous Pinnacles Desert.

The highlight here is the easy 1.5km loop trail that circles the lake. It’s a flat, family-friendly walk through bushland and boardwalks, with interpretive signs and stunning views the whole way. Along the southern edge of the lake, you’ll get the closest look at the stromatolites – just make sure to stay on the boardwalk and resist the urge to touch. These ancient organisms grow just 5cm every 100 years, so every bump matters.
The lake’s hyper-saline water, which is more than twice as salty as the ocean, plays a big role in preserving these living fossils. The peaceful surroundings and unique science behind it all make it a standout experience – especially for curious kids, photographers, and anyone with a love of nature.
